Thankful for the Creative Life

Fall Squash by collage artist Megan Coyle

About four years ago I graduated from undergraduate school not knowing what I'd do with my degree in English and Art. I immediately began intensely working on artwork while I experienced the whole job searching process at a time when our economy had seen better days. Working on artwork helped me relax and keep my focus elsewhere.

Now, I'm amazed how far I've come in just a few years. I've had several solo shows under my belt, my artwork published in national publications, exhibits in several different states, and wrote and illustrated a children's book. I'm incredibly thankful that I now have two collages that are in the permanent collection at a museum. And I am so grateful that I'm able to do what I love everyday. I have a wonderful job where I get to work with design and technology, and I'm able to fund all my creative endeavors. As a result, I'm able to experiment more with my work and explore a variety of areas that I'm interested in. I'm thankful that my web presence has helped me share my artwork with people all over the country and around the world.

I'm thankful for my champions - for my significant other who gives me the push I need whenever an opportunity comes my way, and takes vacation days so he can drive with me to my exhibits in other states (so I don't have to travel alone). For my friends and family who have supported and collected my artwork over the years. For my clients who help spread the word of my work.

I'm so fortunate for all the good that's in my life. I am so lucky to have such a busy and creative life.

And I hope everyone has a happy and safe Thanksgiving!

I am not surprised. You are an amazing artist. I've loved your artwork since the day I first saw it. I am SO happy for you.

You are making your dreams come true. That takes a lot of hard work, but so rewarding.
