Progress Picture #1: Karim's Father

Karim's Father by collage artist Megan Coyle

Here's my sketch from the recent commission work I completed. Although I was able to get the shape of the man's face down correctly, the shadowing and details are just so-so - there was no need to be exact since I would work out those issues once I got to cutting and pasting magazine strips.

In other news, I'm beginning to plan out my solo exhibition in May since I'm making a trek over to Indiana. Looks like I might be putting together my very first day-long workshop. Have you ever run a workshop before? Care to share any advice or tips? I'd really appreciate it!

Anyway, off to my paper, scissors, and glue!

I like seeing the different steps.

Wow, Megan! Congratulations! That is wonderful! I've done workshops, but not in art, so I am probably not much help. Too bad you aren't close enough to come over when the "girls" and I have a day of teaching each other how we do our various art forms for ACEO cards!

I can hardly wait to see what this one turns out like! Amazing amazing.

Hi Megan, I like your portrait. It will be interesting to see how you develop this piece with your collage. Congratulations on the solo show AND workshop!
