The other day I created a collage of the Washington Monument - I'm planning to add this to my Etsy shop in the next week or so. It's my first attempt at doing the DC series, and I know that the more I practice the same subjects, the more I can improve. So here's my first try:

I've noticed that my color palette seems to be a lot darker and duller than the work I did for my senior thesis exhibition - maybe my creative mind is influenced by the cold weather? Anyway, I think in a couple more sit-downs this will be complete:

I'm going to put this one away for a bit. I'm planning to start working on a mini-collage series of scenes of D.C. Hopefully I can get one of those started and completed by next weekend. We shall see how productive I will be.

My portrait, "Jean," is currently on display in the Art League Gallery's "Real/Unreal" exhibition. The portrait was juried into the show by Juday Jashinsky. The Art League Gallery is located in Alexandria, Virginia, and it's open from Monday - Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The exhibition will run from March 4th until April 5th, 2009.

The week wouldn't be complete without an Obama collage--or so it seems. I've been making a lot of these for my Etsy shop. This one won't appear in my shop until later today or tomorrow (I'll update this post with the link later).

I'm working on a couple of projects at once, and this one is a small piece that I just started. It's 9"x12" on black mat board--hence the black spots will get covered up in a little bit. It's a rough start.
