Commissioned Portrait

A few weeks ago, I worked on a commissioned portrait. Since the commissioned piece was being given to someone as a birthday gift, I decided to wait until his birthday passed to post an image of the piece online.

I actually had two gos at completing this piece. Here's the first attempt - although I feel like I captured somewhat of the likeness of the sitter, the piece felt too forced which is why I decided to start over again.

And here's the finished piece that was given to the sitter, Elliot, on his birthday:

I'm definitely pleased with the second go-round - sometimes when your first try doesn't work out, it's a good idea to keep trying till you succeed.
